My deepest condolences go to the family and friends of Benazir Bhutto. The life of every citizen should be the greatest asset of every state, and the greatest responsibility of every state is to protect this asset. I am so very sad that the State of Pakistan has not been able to recognize this responsibility to the fullest. If we are alive and well here does not indicate that the State of Pakistan is fulfilling it’s responsibility, it’s because of the mutual, unwritten agreement of community to avoid harming each other. But one cannot really keep this agreement for long in absence of laws and mockery of what remains of it.
Bhutto was a true leader, or was she? I believe she was one born with silver spoon in her mouth and that doesn’t really make her a true leader. However, her father might be the greatest of the few true leaders of Pakistan who started with almost nothing. Others are leaders because they were or still are attached to the leaders who themselves were attached to some prior leaders. It’s a complete chain.
Murder is not the answer of everything and remains the cruelest crime. But don’t let this grief deviate our sense of justice from the fact that Bhutto was one of the most corrupt leaders in the history of Pakistan. She has been involved in many scandals, many of which were brought to the courts and she was awarded several punishments. Her husband, Asif Ali Zardari, is the second richest person of Pakistan just because of Bhutto’s corruption money. This might not be the best way to console anybody’s death but I am trying to remind the fools who are committing violence and destroying public property that don’t burn yourself for a looter.
I strongly believe that everybody, whether alive or dead, should not be considered above Law and Justice.
